Southern Fried Salmon Patties

If you’re craving something crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these Southern fried salmon patties are exactly what you need. They’re simple, budget-friendly, and packed with flavor—perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a comforting weekend dish.
Ingredients
- 1 can salmon, drained
- ¼ cup onion, finely chopped
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup cornmeal
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- Oil, for frying
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Start by placing the drained salmon into a mixing bowl. Using a fork, gently break it apart into small flakes.
Next, add the chopped onion, flour, cornmeal, egg, and mayonnaise to the bowl. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste. Mix everything together until well combined—you’re aiming for a mixture that holds together but isn’t too dry.
Once your mixture is ready, shape it into patties about the size of a burger. Press them firmly so they don’t fall apart while cooking.
Heat about an inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot, carefully place the patties into the pan. Fry them for a few minutes on each side until they turn a beautiful golden brown and are cooked through.
Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serving Tip
Serve your salmon patties hot with a side of coleslaw, mashed potatoes, or even tucked into a sandwich. A squeeze of lemon or a dollop of tartar sauce takes them to the next level.
